Environmental sustainability is at the heart of our operation. We are a state-of-the-art facility that produces zinc from solely recycled materials, and we recognize there is more that we can do to help our environment and our community. That is why when a local non-profit organization called Keep Rutherford County Beautiful organized an annual litter clean up, we were eager to form a team of volunteers!
Did you know that littering can pose a serious threat to an area’s economic growth? This may seem like a bit of a stretch, but it is possible. Think about it from your own perspective. Would you want to purchase a house with a clean yard and nice neighborhood or a house that seems to constantly have trash in the front yard that could harm your kids and pets or damage your vehicles? Pretty easy choice, right? Littering is a direct threat to sustainability in many forms, and it happens more than you may think.
During our clean-up, we made our way down Hicks Grove Rd and to HWY 221 and collected a total of 24 bags. Trash of all kinds was found but shared one thing in common–they could wait to be thrown away at home. Do your part and wait to toss in it the garbage can.
