Production Operator

Production operators are team members responsible for carrying out essential functions that keep the plant running and productive. As a production operator, you may work in one of several different areas throughout the plant, where you’ll assist in monitoring the zinc production process, conduct basic manual process checks, and answer calls to support the control room operations.

Experience in chemical handling, processing, batch operations, or drumming is a plus, but expect to undergo a lot of on-the-job training for specific procedures and protocols. Candidates who enjoy teamwork, have a mind for safety, and a bring positive attitude will excel here.


  • Operate and maintain processing equipment according to operating guidelines using SOPs, supervisory input, process monitoring instrumentation, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Collect samples for laboratory analysis
  • Monitor area to identify systems that may not be operating correctly
  • Troubleshoot issues with production equipment and processes
  • Complete operational Preventative Maintenance (PMs) to ensure efficient operation and process
  • Use mobile equipment in a safe manner
  • Focus on housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean work environment
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • 1-year experience as a chemical operator or equivalent (batching, mixing, drumming, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and convey verbal and written work and safety-related instructions or procedures given in English
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic understanding of pumps, conveyors, and pneumatics
  • Understanding of chemical processes
  • Pass written test for verification of understanding of the process and requirements for your area
  • Willingness to work with others and be able to take direction from multiple sources
  • Must be able to walk for multiple hours during your shift
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull, and frequently move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs multiple times per shift
  • Wearing personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including a hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Wear respirator, protective clothing, and gloves as needed
  • MUST be able to work outdoors in ALL types of weather

Compensation Range: $17.00 – $19.25 hourly DOE (depending on experience)
